The final negative note of this visit was when my wife and I asked for coffee. They were actually colder than the version that was on the buffet I tried another plate from the buffet it was just as bad as the rest so I skipped the rest and went on to the deserts which were very good. We thanked him and afer he left, we tried them. that they had fixed the problem (with the stuffed mushrooms.) To prove it he brought us out a sample he said which was fresh from the kitchen. A few minutes later he showed up and said he had checked the dish - stuffed mushrooms - that she had pointed out and discovered in fact they were cold. However my wife said the Manager promised to come talk to us at our table. That's a pretty bizarre response to a customers complaint. A few minutes later my wife came back from a trip to the buffet and said she had made a similar observation to a Manager and he had responded with the exact same phrase that, "no everything was hot". She simply said, "no everything is hot" and walked away.
I pointed out that there was little to any steam coming up from the warming table and that the cheese on the Oysters Rockefeller was completely congealed. I mentioned it to an employee who was refilling one of the dishes. Before I had a chance to say anything my wife made the the observation. However this visit was the first time at Captain George's that I found many of the food items not hot. We provide special services such as linens, microphone and podium for private meetings. We seat over 800 people and a private banquet room for 200 guests at no additional charge.
The ambiance is clean and modern, with a nautical theme that includes sailboat decor hanging over the buffet stations. Captain Georges Seafood Restaurant in Myrtle Beach is a top-notch establishment that specializes in seafood cuisine. Even so it felt a bit more like a mid-range cafeteria than the upscale restaurant it used to be. They were packed because of the holiday but the wait was surprisingly short. I was surprised to see that they have have a new section which has a beautiful stained glass ceiling. This Captain George's location has always been my favorite because it has such an elegant upscale feel.
